Taurine

It is a key ingredient of bile, which in turn is needed for fat digestion, absorption of fat-soluble vitamins as well as the control of cholesterol serum levels in the body. Taurine functions in electrically active tissues such as the brain and heart to help stabilize cell membranes. Taurine also aids the movement of potassium, sodium, calcium, and magnesium in and out of cells and thus helps generate nerve impulses. It is thought to be helpful with anxiety, hyperactivity, poor brain function and epilepsy as well as hydrating the brain. Taurine, together with zinc is also required for proper eye health and vision. Taurine and sulfur are considered to be factors necessary for the control of many biochemical changes that take place in the aging process.

Good sources of Taurine are:
meat
fish

Deficiency of Taurine may cause:
impaired vision
problems metabolising fat
