Proline

It is one of the main amino acids of collagen (collagen contains about 15 % proline) and is also helpful to bone, skin, and cartilage formation. Collagen in the skin contains hydroxyproline and hydroxylysine, which is formed from proline and lysine, in which ascorbic acid seems to be important in this conversion. Proline can be formed from glutamine or the amino acid ornithine. It is extremely important for the proper functioning of joints and tendons, in tissue repair after injury, or for any type of wound healing. It also helps maintain and strengthen heart muscles.

Good sources of Proline are:
dairy products
eggs
meats
wheat germ
