Glycemic Index (GI) and Glycemic Load (GL)
The Glycemic Index or GI (also called Glycaemic Index) measures the "effect of food on blood glucose levels". The Glycemic Load relates the GI to the amount of carbohydate eaten in a normal serving or in 100 grams. For more information about a low GI diet see the Glycemic Index Glossary and the Glycemic Index FAQ.
